Here I’ll be reviewing the 99CC Petrol Mower from Trueshopping. As I was satisfied enough with the 43CC Strimmer that I’ve previously reviewed from Trueshopping I thought I’d invest in a petrol mower.

Walkthrough –

First off I must apologize as I don’t have any unboxing pictures of the mower. Assembling the mower was very straight forward. It probably took around 20 minutes of my time. For oil, I’ve used “Ryobi 4 Stroke Oil” Which I’ll provide a link to at the end of this review. Once again, I don’t know a lot about the best oils to use but seeing as Ryobi was at the top of the list on Amazon I thought why not.

I then proceeded to fill 0.6L of Oil in the mower, I then filled the petrol tank just enough to start it and let it run for a while. After pressing the prime button 5 times, the mower started on its 3rd pull. To double-check I’ve put enough oil in it’s best to let the engine run for 2-3 minutes then check the level. 0.6L was enough to hit the full mark.

Using the mower was easy, it’s a little heavy but that’s expected. A nice heavy mower should give you a nice controlled mow over your lawn. The grass deposit bag get’s filled up quickly if you have an overgrown lawn but it’s nice to see that it picks up grass better than expected. Picking the mower up to take down my step in the backyard can be a little awkward due to the weight.

This mower comes with a safety bar that when you let go it will cut-off the engine to a full stop. Just imagine the damage if it rolled down a slope if you by any chance let go of it. Especially when you have children around.

The mower uses hard thick plastic as it’s base, in my books this is good. Metal bases tend to rot over time and require a little more maintenance to keep them dry to prevent rusting.

Final Verdict –

For a budget petrol mower, you simply can’t go wrong with it. It’s well-built for the price you pay. If you know what you’re doing, assembling the mower only takes 20-30 minutes so you will soon be off your way. I can’t see any flaws with the mower as of yet. It works, the blade is sharp, you get a hard plastic housing and it comes with a safety bar that will cut the engine off. What more can you ask for. I’d highly recommend to anyone to get this.

Quick Update –

The 99CC Mower is now discontinued and replaced by the 139CC. We have replaced the Amazon link below with the 139CC Model.
