Taking on the shape of a triangular prism, with an all metal casing , this hub is truly aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Along the front of the hub are 7 USB ports (Six USB 3.0 ports and one 2.4 A charging USB port) each of these ports has a small LED light above them. In the bottom left hand corner of the front is Sandberg’s branding. The triangular edge plates are surrounded by a thin chrome strip that really makes the design of this product shine.
The design of this device means it fits in well with any computer setup. I currently have it sat under my monitor on the monitors base and it looks really nice.
On the right hand side is the USB 3.0 to PC connection port and the DC 12 V plug connector. The rest of the shell remains bare.
This device has been designed to allow easy use when travelling, much like the Sandberg USB Master Charger Pro I reviewed a while back it comes with both a UK and European plug end that in this case simply clips on to the power pack itself.
Use and Performance:
Setting up the hub is pretty much just a case of plugging it into any one of your PC’s available USB port’s using the USB 3.0 cable provided and letting your PC automatically download and install all the needed drivers. Once connected to a USB 3.0 port on my PC, I decided to test it using a USB drive (USB 3.0 interface) to transfer a 2 GB file. Speeds remained completely the same as If I had just plugged it directly into my PC’s USB 3.0 port, which is great as it means the device doesn’t compromise on speed by being a hub.
The charging port also performed exceptionally well and I was impressed with just how quickly it managed to charge my phone’s battery from 5% to 100% full. It was a lot quicker at charging then a normal USB port.
You also don’t need to have the Power supply connected if you are only needing to use it for items that have a low power consumption.
This is definitely a stylish and reliable option if you are looking for a USB 3.0 hub to expand your PC’s current amount of USB ports. It’s also great in that it can quickly charge a device such as a smart phone or tablet using the on board 2.4 A port, which has proved to be a lot faster than a normal USB port at charging my smart phone.
It’s pleasing to look at and exceptionally fast at what it does. It earns a full 5 out of 5 and a Gold Reviews Insider Star.
