A little bit about POPAR Jigsaw puzzles:

POPAR Jigsaws are not just normal jigsaw puzzles, which are built, then just looked at before been put away in a cupboard. They offer an extra level of fun, through the use of AR (Augmented Reality) technology. Through the use of a Smartphone or Tablet’s camera and a companion app (Available on both Google Play and Apple App Store) you can bring the jigsaw to life and your child can experience fun and games not offered by a normal jigsaw.

Princess 3D Interactive Jigsaw:

The puzzle itself, is of some princesses sat outside a castle enjoying the ‘Rainbow Ball’. The jigsaw is a 100 piece puzzle aimed at the ages of 6+. Me and my little boy spent a few hours putting it together, and he really enjoyed himself, and loved seeing it all come together slowly bit by bit. The scene is very nicely drawn and is suitable for its audience. There is a lot to look at and you can easily find yourself exploring the scene with your child.

POPAR Princess Puzzle: The App

POPAR has always been about getting extra functionality out of things that otherwise, serve only one function (A jigsaw is built for fun, but normally you cant do much after). I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 7″ for this review. The app is easy to use and is very suitable for children. Once the app has been installed and started, the user is given two options:

Dress:

This mode allows your child to create a princess using different dresses, patterns, hair styles, facial expressions and skin tones. Once a princess has been created, she can be named and saved for use in the Play mode. My little boy enjoyed seeing all the different things he could the princess up in and all the different styles he could create.

Play:

This mode allows the child to play with their princess as the devices camera is pointed at the jigsaw. In Play mode your child can interact with their princess in many ways, including playing games, hearing fun audio and visual effects. My little boy enjoyed using this app, and love seeing the jigsaw practically come to life on the tablets screen. It just goes to show that young children can have fun, no matter what and I’m happy my little boy enjoyed what some would ‘deem’ a girls puzzle.

Overall:

This jigsaw takes all we already know about jigsaws and makes them even more fun, with the ability to bring the jigsaw to life and create a fun 3D environment where your child can create their own character and send them out into a 3D world to play. If you have young children this is definitely something they will get tonnes of enjoyment from.
