Design:

The PX-5200 is a full sized keyboard. Like many other Mechanical keyboards, it’s heavy in hand although I must admit it one of the lightest yet heavy keyboards I have held. The main body of the keyboard is constructed from plastic and feels very strong and reliable. The cable that connects the keyboard to the PC is actually detachable from the keyboard and has gold plated connectors which help to improve input quality and make the keyboard feel premium. The keys are backlit in red and look really nice. The lights are however set to one brightness only there is no brightness control and for some this may be an issue but for me it’s not. The set brightness pf the lights is however just right in my opinion. The keys are quiet in comparison to my other Mechanical keyboard which has Blue Switches instead of Red. Talking of switches, this keyboard actually makes use of the well-known Cherry red switches. My other Mechanical keyboard uses an unpopular brand so for this keyboard in this price bracket to use Cherry switches is really good.

Update: Perixx has informed that the backlight can actually be changed and adjusted. This is done by the following instructions:

Backlight Mode Change

Using MR and Tab key to adjust:

Press the MR key and hold it down then press Tab Key. Each pressing and releasing

tab key, the backlight would be changed. We provide four different models.

Key backlight with four models:

– Full keys light on

– Only W / A / S / D four keys light on

– Only direction four keys light on

– Full key light off

In use:

I have been using this keyboard now for a few days and despite the fact it’s in the American layout I really have enjoyed using it. I suppose this is just because I have been using an American layout keyboard for a bit now so I am use to it. I have used the keyboard primarily for typing and web browsing and it’s done a great job. One thing that is a bit annoying is that sometimes I can be typing away quite fast and the spacebar doesn’t seem to have worked and I end up with loads of words packed together. To get around this, I need to give the space bar a bit of a tougher tap than the other keys. Other than that though this keyboard is great. The keys are nicely spaced apart which makes typing easy and comfortable and there are even eight macro keys allowing for easier key presses in games such as MMO’s.

Update: After receiving some technical assistance from Perixx, It was discovered my space bar was not 100% level. I did what they asked and now it works great.

Overall:

A great mechanical keyboard that looks good and is comfy to use. With a great backlight setup and great design, this is definitely a great keyboard.
