I have used a few headlamps in the past and can honestly say that design wise this one is the best I have used. It’s comfy to wear, is light but the biggest thing that impresses me, is the fact that this one has a built-in rechargeable battery, whereas the others I have used, use AA’s and some of them even require a battery pack that clips onto an item of clothing.
The head strap of this headlamp is a thick adjustable strap that is also elasticated, to make fitting it on any size of head an easy task. At the front of the head strap is the light unit that sits on a pivot allowing for the user to angle the light in a way that best suits their needs. On the left-hand side of the lamp is a rubber power button that allows the user to turn the lamp on and off as well as setting the lamp between static and sos mode. The button seems a bit stiff when trying to push, so it requires a bit of effort, which is the only problem I have had with this headlamp.
The lamp itself has two lighting types, a normal spot light and a flood light type of lighting. These two types are rather easy to switch between. Switching is done by lowering the plastic light filter down to activate a flood light type light that lights up a wide area and lifting the filter up to create a light beam that covers a small area.
Coming out of the right-hand side of the lamp is a cable that is coiled towards the middle and runs around to the back of the head strap to meet with the battery pack housing. The battery pack housing is bigger than the lamp but given that this headlamp has a battery with 2800mAh (That’s around the same amount most Smartphones have) this is really no surprise. At the bottom, covered by a rubber flap for waterproofing is a MicroUSB port for charging the headlamp. In the center of the battery, housing is a red safety light that lights up when the headlamp is on, this is used to warn people behind you that you are there in times of darkness. Above this light is a set of five blue lights that come on briefly to show the user the remaining battery level of the headlamp.
I have mainly used this headlamp for walks in the evening with my dog and have found it to be a wonderful addition. The lamp is really bright at its brightest setting and thanks to the flood light filter, I was able to see large areas ahead of me very clearly. I have even used it in spotlight mode whilst fixing a mobile phone at my desk and found the spotlight to be great in assisting me.
Wearing the headlamp for long amounts of time caused me no discomfort or issues and I was able to go on with my task with no need to adjust the headlamp whilst I was using it.
With a 2800mAh rechargeable battery, this headlamp has been designed to last long between charges and so far it has done just that and I haven’t even charged it once, it came full for me and has three out of five battery status lights lit.
A well-designed headlamp that makes use of a built-in rechargeable battery, unlike most of its competitors who use AA or AAA batteries. It’s really comfortable to wear and provides the user with a spot light and flood light mode.
Please Note: I received a free sample in return for an honest and unbiased review.
