BT kindly let us have the Wi-Fi Extender 1200 to review.

The packaging of the Extender stands out nicely, it’s dark with big bold texts that will easily grab your attention. The information on the box is extensive to features and specifications. This is something I like, if I were in the market for a new extender with the right price range, I’d definitely consider getting this.

Getting In-depth-

Has a selectable 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless range. I like the 5GHz feature especially, it’s good for streaming HD movies but 2.4GHz is better for range. Testing the 5GHz frequency, file transfer speeds are good, but it still doesn’t compete with 1Gbps Ethernet connection speeds.

Using the extender, one thing I’ve definitely noticed is that it has better range than my router. With my Router sitting in the living room and the Extender in my kitchen, the extender connection light sits in the middle which is “Good”. I’ve got it placed in my kitchen so I’d have better range in my back garden, great for when you have the family over and you have all the kids using the Wi-Fi.

I think BT should give the option to have an downside version and an upside model. This being the downside model, I have a socket up stairs that’s very near to the floor, it would be ideal to place this extender but it won’t squeeze in unfortunately. Never mind! I’ve got plenty more sockets that can accommodate this extender. Another thing to keep in mind that this extender is quite big. I’ll give an example on one of my pictures below, not that I don’t mind, it’s probably a good thing as it will need to house the antennas to communicate with the router and your Wi-Fi enabled devices to communicate with the extender.

Final Verdict-

Don’t let the price and the brand put you off. For £39.99 this extender will deliver incredible performance that has worked flawlessly over the past 2 weeks. The signal strength has been the best I’ve seen, it’s reached at distances where my old TP-Link extender can’t reach. I also like that you can have the option to use 5GHz or 2.4GHz bandwidth by the flick of a switch. Ideal if you’re looking for more performance at 5GHz or better range at 2.4GHz. I have awarded this Extender by BT a gold star. I’m very impressed on how the range can cover my whole backyard.
