I’ve had the bike since June. Since then and now, the bike has clocked “242.4 Miles” It’s had its ups and downs which I’ll explain below.

For a budget Mountain Bike to commute and for other cycling activities like cycling up the mountain, I wouldn’t call this the bike to rely on forever. You may have to fork out more money on repairing the bike to keep it on tip-top shape. For example, the bike’s cassette guard has broken off, mainly because it’s plastic and that the chain kept coming off the cassette when switch from gears 1 to 3. Having the 6 week free service from Halfords did not rectify this problem, but they did fix the gear slippage on the 1 to 7 gears on the rear wheel.

Another minor problem is that the front and back brakes are now squeaky. Not a big enough problem for me to brag about but Apollo/Halfords could have had better quality control when putting the bike together as the brake discs are not 100% straight/centred.

Seat comfort is not perfect if your going for those longer commute rides. I’ve invested in a cheap Gel cover for the seat from ASDA which was £2 and it made the biggest difference compared to without it.

Overall-

If your going to commute, this bike is “OK” but you do benefit from comfier rides from a mountain bike than a Hybrid or Road Bike due to the thicker tires and optional suspension setups. It would probably be better if I had a Hybrid but that’s no good if your going to use it in winter, especially in snow. That’s where the bigger tire treads come in. If your going to invest £179.99 in this bike. I highly recommend in purchasing the service plan kit from Halfords. I’ve had 1 tire puncture since June and opted to have the whole inner tube replace for £13 at Halfords.
